SQFI is a division of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI). “We are pleased to have an organization of the caliber of AFS to help us represent the SQF program in the Asia Pacific region,” said Jill Hollingsworth, group vice president of food safety programs at FMI. “Food companies around the world are recognizing the value of SQF certification to verify food has been produced, processed, prepared and handled in accordance with global standards. Australian buyers and suppliers have been the backbone of the SQF program and providing local representation is a logical step. Working with AFS, we will provide enhanced support and services to the food industry throughout the Asia Pacific region.” “AFS and its formation companies have been involved with SQF since its inception,” said Bill McBride, AFS business development manager. “We are delighted to now formalize that arrangement and support the growth of the SQF program into the future.” AFS will market the SQF program to key stakeholders in Australia, New Zealand and selected regions of Asia. They will provide a support infrastructure to current and potential users of the SQF program and ensure timely and efficient response to inquiries. They are also responsible for certification body compliance audits. Internationally recognized and endorsed by the Global Food Safety Initiative, SQF is based on the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Codex, and ISO Quality Management Standards. More than 4,000 food handling sites in 24 countries have received SQF certification to date. For more information, visit www.sqfi.com. |
